Universal Studios Hollywood unveils seasonal summer event, ‘Universal Mega Movie Summer’

Universal Studios Hollywood is bringing the big screen to life this summer with the debut of Universal Mega Movie Summer, an all-new seasonal event running daily from June 13 through Aug. 10.

The seasonal event comes with either your regular daily entry ticket or your season pass.

The Universal Mega Movie Summer offers engaging adventures inspired by several renowned and upcoming movies from Universal Studios, such as “Jurassic World Reborn,” “Jaws,” “Back to the Future,” “Wicked,” and “How to Train Your Dragon.”

Jurassic World—The Ride Showcasing the Mosasaurus Splash

A revamped edition of Jurassic World—The Ride will include a spectacular Mosasaurus splash ending along with extra dinosaur effects influenced by “Jurassic World Rebirth,” set for release on July 2nd in cinemas.

Visitors have the opportunity to encounter a newly introduced dinosaur character along with Blue the Velociraptor and Baby Tango, and they can take pictures next to an enormous Spinosaurus figure for photos. Additionally, a Jurassic-inspired scavenger hunt will test guests’ skills as they search across various parts of the venue.

New cuisine and beverages will soon arrive at Jurassic Cafe and Isla Nubar.

Anniversary

In celebration of “Jaws” reaching its 50th anniversary, the park is bringing back its famous suspended shark photo opportunity and welcoming special guest characters Captain Quint and Chief Brody for meet-and-greets. Throughout the summer, which coincides with Independence Day festivities, the Studio Tour will highlight this legendary film through a specially decorated Hollywood sign replica and scenes set around Jaws Lake.

Situated right at the entrance of the theme park, Hollywood & Dine will undergo a transformation to become Amity Island Café. The updated menu will feature items such as a Lobster Roll, Vegan Crab Cake Sandwich, Fish and Chips, Fish and Chicken Basket, Shark Bait Burger, and Shark Fin Funnel.

Anniversary

Back to the Future enthusiasts can mark the movie’s 40th-anniversary celebration with meet-and-greets featuring Doc Brown, Marty McFly, and Einstein the dog. Visitors can indulge in themed cuisine from Mel’s Diner, including items like the Flux Capacitor Patty Melt and the Outatime Cookie.

“Wicked”

Elphaba and Glinda from “Wicked” will appear near the park entrance at a themed photo location.

At Universal Plaza, visitors can pose for photos with a massive Toothless statue inspired by Universal’s live-action adaptation of “How to Train Your Dragon.”

Universal characterized the Toothless sculpture as “a highly realistic, 730-pound, oversized three-dimensional dragon standing almost 6 feet tall, stretching 24 feet long, and spanning 8 feet wide.”

A specialized food cart at Universal Plaza will offer new delicacies like Toothless and Light Fury cookies along with a Toothless-themed popcorn bucket.


Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift

At the event, Universal is providing attendees with their first glimpse of the upcoming Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift roller coaster, scheduled to debut next year. Guests will have the opportunity to view one of the new ride cars—an exact copy of Dominic Toretto’s iconic 1970 Dodge Charger—which will be showcased in Universal Plaza.


CityWalk

CityWalk is getting into the festivities with new specialty desserts, movie memorabilia, and live DJ sets at the Five Towers Stage.

Universal Cinema will additionally present special screenings such as “Back to the Future” on July 3rd, along with displaying authentic costumes from “How to Train Your Dragon” and “Jurassic World Rebirth.”
