Scarlett Johansson, an Oscar-nominated actress, along with actor Miles Teller, will co-star alongside Adam Driver in director James Gray’s upcoming movie titled “Paper Tiger.”
Gray has penned and will helm the movie, with filming set to commence next month in New Jersey. Although Anne Hathaway and Jeremy Strong had been slated for roles earlier, they have left the project because of conflicting obligations. This latest casting brings together Johansson and Driver again following their work in 2019’s “Marriage Story,” where both received Oscar nods.
The movie ‘Paper Tiger’ is characterized as a ‘taut and raw’ narrative that follows two brothers chasing the American Dream until they get caught up in a plot that seems too promising to avoid. According to the film’s description: As they attempt to maneuver within an increasingly perilous landscape marked by crime and brutality, they face vicious harassment from the Russian ‘Mafia.’ This ordeal strains their relationship, making what was previously unimaginable—betrayal—a disturbing reality.
The movie will be produced by Rodrigo Teixeira through his RT Features company and Anthony Katagas via AK Productions, along with Raffaella Leone, Gary Farkas, Marco Perego, Carlo Salem, and Andrea Bucko. The executive producers include Lee Broda, Jeff Rice, Riccardo Maddalosso, and Emille Salveson.
Vincent Maraval and Kim Fox’s film “The Veterans” has secured international sales representation from them, with CAA Media Finance taking charge of North American rights. The selling process for this project will carry on during the Cannes market. Sacker Entertainment Law is managing all aspects related to business affairs, as well as both production and financial legals for “Paper Tiger.”
Johansson is represented by CAA and Bailey Brand Management. Teller is with CAA and also works with attorney Chad Christopher.
The Deadline website was among the first to report these new casting details.
