The production is scheduled to start this summer.

The official summary states: “Taking place in the 1980s, this movie draws inspiration from Nattiv’s grandmother’s encounters with a pernicious cult. After experiencing emotional turmoil, Rita (played by Coon) crosses paths serendipitously with a charismatic young spiritual guide (portrayed by James). She decides to follow him into Harmonia, an exclusively female commune. This leads Rita to abandon her former life and loved ones until her two daughters, Ella (acted by Ramsey) and Jo (depicted by Young), undertake a perilous mission to save their mother. Upon joining the group, however, they get ensnared within the manipulative grasp of the leader who uses deceptive spirituality and mental tactics for control.”

from Westend Films, said in a press statement, “‘Harmonia’ is born from the true story of my grandmother – a woman whose quiet strength and unspoken pain left an indelible mark on our family. For years, her story lived in the shadows, and now, at last, I’m giving it voice. I couldn’t ask for more soulful collaborators than Carrie, Lily, Bella, and Odessa. Each of them brings a deep, intuitive grace to these layered characters, and their commitment to tell my story is tremendously moving.”

Julia Lebedev and Eddie Vaisman produce the film for Sight Unseen, with Jaime Ray Newman and Nattiv producing for New Native Pictures, along with Oren Moverman. Leonid Lebedev will serve as an executive producer.

Embankment Films handles global distribution rights. The agreement was facilitated through CAA Media Finance and Range Select by Miranda King, Kent Sanderson, and Avy Eschenasy from Bleecker Street, whereas CAA and Range Media Partners speak for the creators involved in making the film.
