The feature, inspired by an acclaimed short film, follows the tale of a mysterious elderly man residing in the sand dunes who is falsely charged with murdering a resident of the area. The sole person standing beside him is a dedicated defense attorney committed to revealing the facts. As per a synopsis of the narrative, it explores “the depths of the human spirit, highlighting the repercussions of hiding the truth and the potential for atonement through confession.”

The Old Man in the Dunes
He will helm the film as his directorial debut. Noli Molla and Mark Holder are producing for Wonder Street, along with Jacques Abrahamian. Production is scheduled to start in the third quarter of this year, aiming for a 2026 release. Angel Studios plans to distribute the film domestically. International sales will be managed by Cloud9 Studios, which intends to present the project to potential buyers at the upcoming Cannes film market.
The lineup for Cloud9 at Cannes also features Barry Levinson’s thriller.
