Recently, President Donald Trump issued an executive order leading to significant reductions within the U.S. Agency for Global Media, which manages entities like Voice of America and Radio Free Asia—organizations that provide broadcasts aimed at nations under authoritarian rule. Nonetheless, U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth has temporarily halted these actions through a preliminary injunction to maintain operations.
The Office of Cuba Broadcasting made the suggestion to cooperate with OAN, according to United States Agency for Global Media senior advisor Kari Lake.
This represents a significant advantage for the American taxpayer, who exclusively funds USAGM’s media channels aimed solely at international viewers,” stated Lake. “Although I do not oversee the editorial aspects of VOA and OCB programming in my capacity as Senior Advisor to USAGM, I strive to provide these platforms with dependable and trustworthy resources as they develop their reports and broadcasts. Every day, I seek opportunities to reduce costs for American taxpayers. Integrating OAN as a video and news provider accomplishes this dual objective.”
OAN otherwise broadcasts its 18 hours of live news and 24/7 coverage via 85 broadcast stations across the country in addition to its own streaming app. Its cast of anchors were relatively unknown before joining the network. OAN originally existed among DirecTV’s channels, until the its parent company AT&T opted not to renew OAN’s contract in 2022, sparking a legal battle that is ongoing.

Former Representative Matt Gaetz has joined OAN as an anchor and will soon debut his own show following his departure from Congress. In response to this new collaboration, he posted online saying, “I’m not crying…..you’re crying…”
Last year, OAN was readmitted to the YouTube Partner Program and became eligible to monetize its channel with its over 1 million subscribers.
