Congratulations are warranted for
Keith Urban!
On Thursday, March 8, the country star, 57, received the prestigious Triple Crown Award at the 60th
Country Music Academy Awards
— held at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas — starting with a tribute from some of the biggest names at the ceremony.
Megan Moroney
started a career-wide homage to Urban with a condensed version of “Stupid Boy,” and
Chris Stapleton
This was followed by a cover of “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” which gently concluded with, “We love you, Keith.”
As Moroney, 27, and Stapleton, 47, performed, a smiling Urban sang along to his own tracks and danced with wife
Nicole Kidman
In the crowd, as Stapleton sang, Kidman, who is 57 years old, was observed embracing the honored individual, with both of them moving gently from side to side.
Brothers Osborne
wrapped the mini tribute to Urban by performing 1999’s “Where the Blacktop Ends,” which ended with Urban grabbing a guitar and making his way to the stage. After shredding alongside the duo, he approached the mic to accept the Triple Crown.
Urban kicked off his speech by thanking the performers and band for the “amazing” tribute, the academy for the award, and, of course, Kidman, with what may be a nod to her recent role in
Babygirl
.
My wife, Nicole Mary, is with us tonight. I love you, sweetheart. And our daughters.
Sunday and Faith
Watching from home tonight, I love you both as well,” Urban exclaimed, addressing their 16 and 14-year-old daughters.
He went on, “My gratitude goes to an extensive team whom I can’t individually acknowledge here, yet they’ve put in incredible efforts unseen by most. Remembering that nobody achieves alone, I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation particularly to my touring band and our extended ‘road’ family. Also, let me extend extra-special thanks to all of you who come out to watch us perform; your support means everything to us.”
Additional appreciation was owed to the lead artist, who subsequently conveyed thankfulness towards country radio, their recording label, Capitol Records, and “the best promotional team around.”
Urban then wrapped his speech by mentioning
his upcoming tour
with
Blake Shelton
, which begins at the end of this month. “Thank you very much,” he concluded. “We’ll see you soon.”
The “Somebody Like You” hitmaker received the milestone award because he previously won “three distinct, prestigious awards, including new artist of the year, artist of the year, and entertainer of the year,” per a press release.

Carrie Underwood
in 2010.
Coming up, Urban is set to
headline a new music competition series called
The Road
.
The show, which was announced in February by CBS and will focus on discovering new musical talents, will premiere this fall.
Executive co-produced by Shelton, the upcoming series will follow the pair’s journey to discover the next big musician as up-and-coming artists open for Urban at music venues across America. The audience will also have a say in which musicians are able to continue touring and move to the next city.
