The cherished country music star, who is 58 years old, did not make an appearance at the Academy of Country Music Awards on Thursday, May 8.

, was held at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas.

McGraw’s most recent appearance at the ACM Awards was in 2023 when he accepted the ACM Icon Award for his song “Cowboy Lullaby.” His acceptance speech was notably emotional and sincere.
I’m going to attempt getting through this, though I tend to tear up,” he started. “Music has the power to transform a life or even rescue one. It’s definitely helped me numerous times… although at some points, it also seemed like it was trying to end my life.
McGraw proceeded to tell his wife,
Faith Hill
, a lovely tribute. “I wouldn’t be here today were it not for you and your kindness,” he exclaimed. “My love for you knows no bounds.”

McGraw and Hill, 57, got married in 1996 and share three daughters,

Sadly, McGraw has encountered some health problems recently. In August 2024, the artist from Louisiana needed orthopedic surgeries on both knees after getting injured on his Standing Room Only Tour. Consequently, he had to call off the rest of the scheduled shows for 2024.
Come early 2025, the father of three also had to have back surgery.
Despite his health issues, McGraw will be performing his first concert in more than a year on May 31 at the Music City Rodeo.
We’re practicing, everyone, as we prepare for our first performance after nearly a year. On May 31st, we’ll be closing the show that evening,” he shared on Instagram. “This will definitely be thrilling. We’re all set to take the stage again. Believe me when I say, we’re more than prepared to perform.
