Keith Urban
was at the center of an all-star tribute performance from
Chris Stapleton
,
Brothers Osborne
and
Megan Moroney
As he formally received the ACM Triple Crown Award during the ACM Awards ceremony on Thursday evening (May 8).
Moroney was the first to take the stage, adorned in an ethereal white outfit while performing Urban’s song “Stupid Boy” with a sparkling guitar draped across her shoulder.
The cameras then shifted focus towards Stapleton, who performed a soulful version of “Blue Ain’t Your Color.” While he was singing, Urban could be seen cheering and applauding from his position among the audience.
During the performance, Nicole Kidman, who is his spouse, wrapped her arms around Urban and sang along with the lyrics.
In conclusion, Brothers Osborne added their distinctive rock twist to Urban’s classic early-hit “Where the Blacktop Ends,” causing the audience to rise as they concluded the homage with an electrifying finale.
“Get yourself up onstage,” singer T.J. Osborne said to Urban as they approached the end of the song.
So, Urban hopped up for a truly once-in-a-lifetime guitar jam with Brothers Osborne’s John Osborne.
“Firstly, Chris, Megan, T.J., John, thank you very much; that’s incredible. And to the band, thanks as well,” Urban stated during an acceptance speech where he quickly expressed appreciation for every member of his family and his team.
He concluded his performance onstage by expressing excitement for his High and Alive World Tour, starting this month.
Just a select group of top-tier country music stars qualify for the prestigious Triple Crown Award. To be honored with this accolade, musicians must secure wins in New Artist of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year categories at the Academy of Country Music Awards throughout their careers.
With this new title, Urban has joined the ranks of artists such as
Miranda Lambert
,
George Strait
,
Dolly Parton
and
Brooks & Dunn
, all of whom have been celebrated as Triple Crown honorees at shows past.
